What kind of test does Mycometrics offer? |
We offer two tests: the HERTSMI and the ERMI. The HERTSMI test screens only for 5 mold species that are related to water damage. The ERMI test screens for 36 mold species including the 5 from the HERTSMI. So ERMI is more comprehensive. |
What is the price for each test? |
The price for the ERMI is $285, and HERTSMI is $150. If you order the kits from us, you have to pay an initial $50 non-refundable deposit plus shipping and handling fee. The kit itself is free. Once we receive your sample, we'll charge you the remaining balance, $240 for ERMI or $105 for HERTSMI. |

The standard turn-around-time is 5-7 business days upon receipt of the sample. We will send you a PDF file of your results via email. The testing process can be speed up with expedited services at a surcharge of the total testing price. |

What is the difference between AccuDust Kit and AccuCloth Kit? |
AccuDust Kit: The dust kit comes with a canister that is attached onto the hose of the vacuum. The canister will collect dust from the carpet when vacuuming.AccuCloth Kit: The cloth kit comes with a small size of Swiffer cloth that is used to wipe the above-floor surfaces such as furniture, appliances, vents, etc. We recommend you to order the AccuDust kit if the locations you are trying to test are the majority wall-to-wall carpet. But if you have pets, majority wood floor or if there is outdoor contamination on the carpet (ie. wearing shoes indoors), you should order the AccuCloth kit. Once you have collected enough dust for your sample, you can ship it back to us and we will begin testing. |
What is the maximum quantity of kits that can be ordered? |
The maximum order quantity for the kits is limited to 5 units. |
Using own kit |
By submitting your own kit, you save the shipping and handling fee. The price for the ERMI is $285, and HERTSMI is $150. You may purchase your own cloth kit at any local drugstores or supermarket. Please purchase a box of the Dry and Unscented Swiffer Sweeper, a pair of rubber gloves and a box of Ziploc bag. The moment you open the box of Swiffer sweeper, bag each cloth into an individual Ziploc bag so you can minimize contamination and use those for future sample collection. Please only use one cloth per test, otherwise, there will be an additional charge for each additional cloth. Warning: Since we are not supplying the cloth, the risk is on your end if you use a contaminated cloth for sample collection. Please send the filled-out COC form and signed Payment form along with your sampled Swiffer cloth (sealed in a Ziploc bag) back to us at: Mycometrics 9 Deer Park Dr, Suite K-18 Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 |
Not enough dust? |
You can obtain several new dark color cover sheets or black garbage bags on different above-floor surfaces in different areas. Allow the recent dust particles to settle onto the sheets/bags for a minimum of 1 to 3 months or until you see visible dust has been accumulated. Then you can wipe it off with your cloth kit. The dust should be visible on the cloth. Please only use the rough side of the AccuCloth, and collect enough dust on each cloth such that at least 50% of the cloth is darkened with dust. |
